On Tuesday we did a simulation of hot gas inrush which occurs during the flight of the REXUS rocket, to test the camera’s ability to withstand temperatures above 200°C. Unfortunately our test showed that the image sensor of the camera heats up to about 110°C and does not provide clear and noisefree images any more, which led to the decision that a protective glass is needed. We are already in touch with some experts to manufacture such a protective glass plate, so stay tuned for more information about our experiment!
